Why Rode? An interview with our Sales Executive Vanessa

14th January 2020

We sat down with our Sales Executive Vanessa to find out the particular things that make Church Farm in Rode a very special place to call home and to find out her top insider tips and recommendations for the area. Here’s what she had to say:

What do you like about working at Church Farm?

It’s close to home, ha-ha! Seriously, it’s a great location, close enough to pop into Frome and easy commuting distance from Bath or Glastonbury, with all the benefits of a rural location - great scenery and easy access to the Somerset countryside. The village is picture-perfect too, there’s a real thriving community feel here.

What do you most like about the homes being built?

They fit into the landscape, they’ve been designed with quality in mind, and it really shows. Lots of home developers build new homes as quickly or cheaply as possible, at Autograph we like to take a different approach. These are buildings we want to be proud of for many years to come, and the design, materials and attention to detail have to reflect that. The quality is usually the first thing new home buyers comment on - that and the location of course.

What’s your favourite plot and why?

Plot 10, The Rowans. It has an amazing position, lovely views, and the family kitchen room is right across the back of the property - it’s over 30ft long, and just a really lovely space to be in.

Why do you think this is a great place to live?

As I said earlier, Rode has the most amazing community, a real thriving village feel. The number of people I meet who have left and wish to return is very high. There are two great pubs, a fabulous café in the post office and a chocolate factory in the village too.

Do you have any recommendations for the best things to do nearby?

There are some superb pubs and eateries in the area. The Ivy in Bath, Babington house, the Cross Keys pub in the village does homemade marmalade ice cream, which is excellent.

In Bradford-on-Avon, there’s a stunning National Heritage property - The Tithe Barn. It’s a great place for a day out and they host a lot of events too. In Frome, the markets are fabulous and there are lots of lovely independent traders in the town. Also, there are plenty of beautiful places to walk nearby, which is good news for dog owners. If you’re after a family day out then it’s difficult to beat Longleat!
